Sponsorship
For 96 years, the Newnan Junior Service League (NJSL) has been committed to enhancing the quality of life in Coweta County through dedicated service, volunteerism, and leadership. Currently, the NJSL is made up of over 70 women who volunteer with local organizations such as Backpack Buddies, Coweta County Schools, Newnan-Coweta Historical Society, Feeding Our Friends, Coweta Community Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, and Bridging the Gap. In addition to volunteering in our community, we also host various fundraising events throughout the year to benefit organizations in our community.
We have four major fundraising events each year: 10th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot, The Legends of the League Golf Tournament, and The Big Event.
The 10th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot will be held on Friday, October 13th at Blalock Lakes. The Clay Shoot funds our Christmas in Newnan Program. Last year’s proceeds allowed us to provide Christmas gifts and meals for 100 children and their families in the Coweta County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) system.
The Big Event will be a fundraising casino night with a Mardi Gras theme in celebration of our 96 years of service to Coweta County. We hope you and the rest of the community will join us on Saturday, February 4, 2023. And let the good times roll to another year of service for our community.
The Legends of the League Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at White Oak Golf Club. This will mark the third year for this growing event. We welcomed over 100 participants & sponsors in 2022.
All of our fundraisers will be promoted via the NJSL website, social media platforms, promotions, events, and advertising through various media outlets, including 92.5FM The Bear & The Newnan Times-Herald. The Shamrock Run will also be promoted on Active.com and Run & See Georgia.
Last year, NJSL chose 180 Degree Farm as our grant recipient. With proceeds from our 4 fundraising events, along with support from generous sponsors like you, we were able to present 180 Degree Farm with a check for $25,000. We also presented three $7,500 scholarships to Coweta County high school seniors.
Our 2022-2023 grant recipient is More Music Foundation which was established in 2021 to provide music education programs to at-risk youth. In February of 2022, they launched their first program by hosting a free music workshop at Ruth Hill Elementary every third Saturday of the month. They also partnered with Family Patterns Matter that month to host bi-weekly events for at-risk students. More Music Foundation also offers free workshops monthly and summer partnership programs in the community. More Music’s Learn to Earn program is the initiative for the 2022-2023 grant. In partnership with the Howard Warner Boys and Girls Club, More Music is providing eight students group lessons weekly for 14 weeks. These students will earn an acoustic guitar, guitar stand, tuner and guitar case at the culmination of the program upon completing a skills test and maintaining 75% attendance. Statistics show that playing a musical instrument increases students’ cognitive and emotional abilities. The grant money will help pay for the instruments and gear needed to fulfill the program goals.
